This time I´ve decided to follow a different path: I´ll show you a faiance tea and cake set with a geometric art-déco decoration.

jogo de chá e bolo // tea and cake set
fábrica // manufacture: Cerâmica Iracema - Campo Largo - Paraná - Brasil
faiança // faiance
decoração art-déco geométrica feita com com verniz colorido, aerógrafo e estanhola // geometric art-déco decoration made with masks and airbrush
déc. 1930 // 1930s

The Cerâmica Iracema pottery was one of the earliests tableware factories in Brazil, created in 1930. Apparently it was no longer working by the end of the 1940s. This pottery was apparently a small manufacture, rather than a proper factory.

What I like most about this set is how a simple decoration can create such a rich and enchanting effect, a thing that is very typical of the art-déco period.

  1. Hello Fabio,
Your set today is very nice. They look as though someone drizzled butterscotch over them. Indeed, they look as though one should have tea and cakes with them! Wonderful! Thank you for sharing them with us and thanks for joining me for tea today.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. This is not what normally would catch my eye, but it is uniquely pretty. I can see it would set a lovely table with some amber glasses or some white white in clear stems, and soft candle light!

  8. Hello Fabio,
You have a very lovely Art Deco set - the colors are beautiful - I am so glad you paid a visit to my blog today - several years back I spent three years in Rio as a child - kindergarten age - my sister and I spoke Portuguese and would translate for my mother - my father was in the military. I have a few memories and a few treasures my parents brought back. It is wonderful to make a connection with you through these wonderful tea blog parties.
I hope you have a wonderful day,
    Kathy

  21. Dear Fabio, Thanks so much for linking up with my tea party at Comin' Home. I was so pleased to see you! I really do like the beautiful dishes you shared and your 'tablescape' or vignette was lovely.

The Art Deco period did make some gorgeous dishes..and the geometric styles have a very serene beauty in my opinion. I decorate with a lot of 'retro' style dishes and other antiques. I really enjoyed the story about the factory that these dishes from Brazil were made in!

Thanks again for sharing this great post.

    Sincerely,
    Donna from Comin' Home
